Lisnatti Foods

Project: Stainless Steel equipment system for automated packaging line.

Challenge: Connect a Yamato combination scale with a Viking Maesek rotary bagger and Heat & Control Fastback feeder.

Scope: Design, fabricate and install a SS support system with access mezzanine.

Lisanatti foods, an Oregon producer of healthy cheese alternatives was in the process of commissioning a large new automated packaging line for their shredded products. The project goal was to increase production capacity to continue to serve the growing healthy foods market. They had selected high quality components and needed an integrator to tie the components together into a functioning process system. With the help of a local packaging equipment distributor, Garrett Packaging, they selected Mclane Mfg. for the project. With 15+ years experience in the welding and SS process design, Mclane Mfg. was well situated for success on this project. We started by reviewing the equipment drawings, and quickly designed a support structure that would support the equipment, while still leaving access for machine access points. After several rounds of feedback from Lisanatti, we settled on a final design.

Updated features included:

  • Sloped Diamond Plate floor for controlled washdown

  • Integrated kickplate for water control

  • Additional operator access for system cleaning and maintenance

  • Isolated Fasteback support column

To accommodate the sophisticated design, Mclane Mfg. used all CNC cutting to produce the system components. CNC Sheet Lasers, CNC Tube Lasers, CNC Waterjet, and a CNC Press Brake all helped support the fabrication effort. All welding was completed using Miller Welders advanced pulsed welding capable machines. We used a glass bead blasting process to provide a uniform surface finish for cleanability. The mezzanine was built in 4 pieces, and then assembled on-site in the Lisanatti facility. To ensure a watertight design, the assembled pieces were seam welded after assembly.
